Presented in Spanish with English supertitles Lope de Vega's El Perro del Hortelano (The Dog in the Manger) is a sparkling comedy of desire, jealousy, and power. Countess Diana of Belflor proudly guards her independence and rejects all noble suitors?until she discovers that her secretary, Teodoro, is in love with Marcela, one of her ladies-in-waiting. Caught between pride and passion, Diana launches a clever and dangerous game of manipulation, where words become weapons and love a contest of control. Witty, seductive, and sharply observed, this Spanish Golden Age classic explores the fine line between desire and refusal, revealing how love, ambition, and social class collide?onstage and off. The City of Aventura proudly partners with FUNDarte and the Miami-Dade County Auditorium to bring this production to the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center.

Parking: Location: Parking & Valet Services Free parking is available in the lots adjacent to the venue along NE 188th street in front of the Aventura Community Recreation Center and the Aventura City of Excellence School Valet Service: Valet Service is available for most performances at $10 per vehicle. All patrons can find valet parking in front of the venue in the circular driveway.
